VSF - History

The Federation was formed under the name of the 'New Zealand Service Station Proprietors Federation (Inc.)' in 1961. Since then the Federation has seen a further two name changes.

In the 80's the name was changed to 'Service Station Federation (Inc)' .

In 1996 to recognise the changing dynamics of the automotive industry, the current name of the Vehicle Service Federation (VSF) was adopted.

The Federation has always been a pressure group, & it exists for its members.

For many years it represented owners and operators in wage negotiations in Wellington. Today the executive are involved with the NZ Transport Agency, Unitec, MIT, Mito, CRA, LVVTA and fellow organisations. 

We have a Strategic Alliance with the IMVIA, where we both work alongside to improve member benefits.

During 2005 the VSF helped with the formation of the

Repair Certifiers Association & the

Vehicle Compliance Association.

& in 2008 the formation of Vesia.

Graham Paitry was the first secretary for the Federation, followed by Brian Sole and now Charles Worth of CSTNexia.
